If you do not find the answers to your questions below, please call one of our tax specialists on 0800 071 2222.

Q. When can I apply for my taxback?
A: Most Working Holiday Makers (WHM's), can apply for taxback twice! Once at the end of the financial year, and also when you have finished work and are about to leave Australia.

Q. At the end of the financial year? When is that?
A: The financial year runs from July 1st through June 30th each year. Therefore, come July 1st each year, we can apply for that previous years taxback (providing you are eligible). Once you apply for that previous years taxback, you are automatically eligible for taxback the following financial year, with no conditions.

Q. I hear so many different rumours, what percentage of the tax I have paid can I expect to receive back?
A: That is dependant on a number of factors, the amount of time you have spent in the country, your gross earnings and the rate of tax you have been paying. Everyone's situation is different, call us today for a quote or some useful tips on maximizing your refund.

Q. What is a PAYG/Group Cert?
A: A PAYG Payment Summary is an official tax document that you receive from your employer, stating your gross earnings and tax paid in a particular tax year. Employers are required to mail these to all employees in July each year, and we use these when submitting your tax return.

Q. I don't have my PAYGs, I have my final payslip though?
A: For an end of financial year return, yes we can use your final payslip from your employer, providing it is your final payslip from that employer for that financial year, and it shows your year-to-date gross earnings and tax paid.

Q. I don't have either, can you help?
A: Sure, you can still apply for your refund and we can chase those missing documents up for you!

Q. How long does it take to receive the money?
A: We can process your return today, then it takes an average of two weeks for the tax office to process that return and return the funds.

Q. I applied for my taxback already, and was told I owed money!? Can you help?
A: Mistakes are often made when lodging returns, your return may have been lodged incorrectly! We can lodge an amended return for you, contact us today for professional advice.

Q. I applied for my taxback, but only received a hundred dollars while I hear some people receive thousands! Can you help?
A: Same story again, yes mistakes are often made when lodging returns. A mistake may have been made on your return! Contact us today for some professional advice.

Q. I also paid super whilst in Australia, how can I apply for this back?
A: Your Australian employers have paid 9% of gross earnings into a Superannuation fund on your behalf. You can claim back these contributions once you have left Australia permanently and your visa has expired. This can all be done for free!
You will need your super information from your employers to apply i.e. your super fund name and super membership number. Contact us today and we can forward you the link free of charge!

Q. How will I be paid?
A: We can pay into an Australian account, UK, or an overseas account, or mail a cheque to you (if you want to save on some bank fees).

Q. Is it true that I have to wait until I return home to apply for my refund? Is it true that if I wait until I return home, I will receive a larger refund? Is it true I can only apply for taxback at the end of the financial year?
A: No, no and No!! There are lots of taxback rumors flying around, 99% of them false! Contact us today for the FACTS!!
